CUB CAMPER FEATURES

Ezy-Wind System

CUB is renowned for its user-friendly approach to building camper trailers and we are always looking for more ways to simply the process so that more people are able to access our camper trailers and experience the joys of the open road.

The CUB Ezy-Wind system is probably the most significant innovation to flip top camper trailers in the last decade. The revolutionary Ezy-Wind system was invented by us and is exclusive to CUB Campers. By effortlessly winding a handle, campers can be opened and erected with minimal effort and within minutes. To close the camper, simply wind the handle in the opposite direction. You can see why it’s called the Ezy-Wind!

The system means that all our customers can open and close our campers with ease – regardless of age and ability

Transcontinental Pack

Extra durability and strength without the full weight of an off-road model.

Experience has shown us that many of our customers want the freedom and flexibility of an off-road camper trailer but without the extra weight, or cost of a full off-road model. Our Transcontinental Pack provides exactly this. Our transcontinental pack includes selected enhancements designed to increase the outback touring capability of our camper trailers, yet with only an additional 50kg of weight. The transcontinental pack must be ordered prior to purchase and includes the following features:

  • Longer, stronger drawbar
  • Stronger springs
  • 14” light truck tyres
  • Reinforced chassis
  • Heavy duty high tensile axle
  • Locking water filler and steel water tank protector

Beds & kitchens

Our campers might be known for their easy set-up and durability in all conditions, but that doesn’t mean you have to do without your domestic comforts! A good night’s sleep and great cooking and food storage capabilities are part of the attraction of a Cub camper trailer.

Bedding

Twin bed orientation

Twin bed orientation

Your bed is inside the main body of the camper trailer and you don’t need a ladder to get into bed.

Most of our beds are queen size and run lengthways. In Supamatic and Spacematic Regal and Drover models with Inside kitchen, the bed runs across the width of the camper. Single beds and some customised beds are available. All campers (except the Junior) can be fitted with a custom Cub innerspring mattress. There is a lift-up storage space underneath the bed.

Kitchens

All Cub rollout kitchens are made from quality stainless steel. All our campers are equipped with a 2 burner stove in an outdoor kitchen – as a minimum.

Many models offer the choice of an inside or outside kitchen, and some are also equipped with a grill. Larger models come with a 4 burner stove. In the Drover off-road series, the Supermatic and Spacematic models come with both an inside kitchen and outside bbq.

Awnings

To increase your living space even further Cub provides a range of awnings, awning walls and Add-A-Rooms for all camper trailers. Most of our campers come with an awning and wall as a standard inclusion and is ideal for those who just want a roof for shade and rain protection. Most importantly, Cub awnings can be left zipped to the camper when folded for towing. The Deluxe Awning has a sewn-in valance with 50mm wide velcro around the hem for the attachment of walls. All poles, pegs, & ropes are supplied, including the unique velcro spreader which allows for easy deluxe Awning/Add-A-Room set-up.

The Add-A-Room consists of a deluxe awning, front wall with window, rear wall, long wall with window and door and a draught skirt. The awning and walls attach to the tent with heavy duty zips. The walls attach to the awning and to themselves with velcro.

Optional Extend-a-rooms or ensuites will increase the undercover living space even further and the options are great for the young families.

Built-in annexe

The design of the Cub fliptop camper means that the roof section becomes a hard floor when the camper is open, creating an immediate annexe up off the ground and doubling the internal space. More space for you to relax in but no more to tow. In addition, the one piece 2mm aluminium roof and built in roof rack is fitted with a double rubber seal to prevent the entry of dust and offers ample space for your boat or extra cargo.

Most importantly, this feature is included in the price, rather than an optional extra – as it is with many of our competitors. The annexe can be opened in about 30 seconds and fully set within a few minutes thanks our Ezy-Wind system.

Light to Tow

A very important feature of all Cub touring models is their light ball weight (25-39 kg) which makes towing easy, even for smaller cars. Cub Campers are designed to travel low, minimizing wind drag and assisting with fuel economy. Our widest camper measures just at 2 metres across so there is no need for clip on or wide towing mirrors. In most cases the camper trailer is no wider than the tow vehicle, again helping to reduce unnecessary fuel usage.

Construction

One of the reasons why CUB Campers have proven so reliable is their monocoque construction. Unlike caravans, pop tops and many camping trailers, all CUB Campers use steel body panels and frames which are welded in the corners and to the chassis creating a unibody construction with the body bracing the chassis. Modern 4WDs are built this way.

CUB off road camper trailers have suspensions designed for Australian outback conditions. Leaf spring suspension are predominantly 7 leaf outback springs with army wrap and rebound spring. A forty five mm beam axle with brakes and shock absorbers complete the set up. CUB also offer a purpose built independent suspension with coil springs and shock absorbers. Both suspension systems have been extensively tested in the harshest conditions and will allow you to travel confidently to those out of the way places this great continent has on offer.

Touring (on road) models employ a lighter suspension but still utilize the all steel construction of the off road models resulting in a very robust and enduring construction and suspension combination.

Although CUB believes our leaf spring suspension is excellent for off road use, we also offer our customers the option of an independent trailing arm coil suspension for off road models which has undergone extensive outback and off road testing.

Eco-friendly

CUB Campers are designed to travel low, minimizing wind drag and greatly assisting with fuel economy. With our widest camper at 2 metres there is no need for clip on or wide towing mirrors. In most cases the camper is no wider than the tow vehicle, again helping to reduce unnecessary fuel usage.

Independent Suspension

Although Cub believes our leaf spring suspension is excellent for off-road use, we now offer our customers the option of an independent trailing arm coil suspension when you choose the off-road version of any of our touring models.

Note: Independent Suspension is only standard on the Daintree LE, Brumby and the Drover series models.

This suspension designed and thoroughly tested in conjunction with the Ultimate Suspension Company who has specialised in the Off Road suspension for over 25 years. This suspension using simplicity in design is an integrated system incorporating mini twin pig tail coils with damper controlled by twin shock absorbers. Cub has over 40 years experience in building off road camper trailers and has rigorously tested this suspension in outback conditions for over six months.

Boat Loader

The Boat Loader is available on all off road camper trailers.
